I have a westfield
Road trim, lights, tax mot, list 1b tyres
But it does not have a windscreen
Previously I ran in B1 but I think the removal of screen means that I have to run with Modified class D.
Please could you confirm or advise.
Many thanks

S10.2.1. Windscreen/Glass
(a) Windscreens are mandatory for all closed
vehicles. They are free for open vehicles.

The question being is your car classed as an open or closed vehicle. Conveniently this not laid down in the Nomlecature/Definitions page so I will let someone who runs one currently advise you accordingly.

Interesting couple of points:

1) What about 'production' cars that do not have a windscreen or do not have a 'glass' windscreen?

2) What constitutes a 'windscreen'?

In the Blue Book a windscreen is defined as "A rigid transparent shield located in front of vehicle occupants to protect from the wind and airborne particles." However it doesn't specify how this is to be achieved and it also doesn't tackle the question of the 'folding windscreen'. I suspect a good lawyer would be able to argue the case for 'wind deflectors' being a windscreen.

So -
Do you think I should enter B1 or D
I dont want to cause problem , even if blue book allows no screen in B1 ,especially if all others have screens.
Although rest of car spec is more akin to B1 than D

Hi

B1 is correct for the HSA series, for your car, as far as i'm aware

The windscreen 'requirement' is something that occurs in the North West area only - and then only for some of the events (sprints mainly) the Blue Book rules don't require screens and neither do most of the other regional series - and certainly the classic hillclimb venue's don't.

You might find yourself moved on the day if you're doing a sprint in the NW to modified but the series will sort the points out anyway I'm lead to belive

This particular rule 'hiccup' was something I found to be a PITA last season!

Its the same issue with the List 1A and 1B tyres, most venues now allow road classes to run 1B tyres, but again it seems to be a few clubs in the North West who only want 1A tyres.

To this end I had to post a note for anyone competing at Anglesey to be aware of this ruling.

In essence Stu, you are ok if you enter our championship and irrespective what happens on the day you would be scored as this class throughout the season.
